Generation Power

Modern home design is taking advantage of the Australian sun’s unlimited resource to take back control of energy bills and to add value to the home.

The sun’s heat and light provide an abundant source of solar energy that can be harnessed in many ways. There are a variety of technologies that have been developed to take advantage of solar energy. Solar power is the generation of electricity from sunlight and is becoming more popular in Australian homes as installation costs come down and electricity costs go up.

Nicholls Solar“Electricity prices are also expected to increase by up to 64% over the next 3 years* so an investment in solar power also protects against increasing electricity costs.”

Nicholls Solar is an Australian owned and operated company that provides solar power solutions and quality installations. According to Nicholls Solar General Manager, Pred Vucetic, the best thing about solar power is that once your system is operating any power that it produces is renewable and free.

“You are also making a fantastic contribution to reducing carbon emissions and slowing down climate change,” said Pred. “By creating your own power from the sun, you can save at least 2.4 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year (based on a 1.5kW system).”

“Electricity prices are expected to increase by up to 64% over the next 3 years* so an investment in solar power also protects against increasing electricity costs,” said Pred. “With a 25 year performance warranty and a 40 year design life, the popularity of solar panels is being driven by great returns.”

With solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on your home, any surplus power is fed back into the grid and your power company will pay you a premium rate for the extra power your system produces. This can significantly reduce your electricity bill and could even have you receiving a cheque from the power company. In the event of a blackout, the system will shut down for safety reasons.

Another benefit of installing a solar system is the increase in the value of your home. This results not only from the installation cost having already been incurred but also the projected power savings over the life of the system.

Nicholls Solar is part of the Nicholls Group and is a member of Master Builders Australia and Engineers Australia. To guarantee the highest quality installation, Nicholls do not use sub-contractors to install its solar systems.

Solar power will work at most homes if:

  • The panels are located at the area of the roof that faces north and this roof surface area is in excess of 10 square metres
  • Shading by large trees where the panels are to be located is minimal during 10am to 2.30pm
