A little bit rock and roll

Eden Brae Homes, winner of the 2010 HIA-CSR NSW Professional Major Builder award, celebrated its annual Charity Race Day in October at Rosehill Gardens.

Eden Brae Homes, winner of the 2010 HIA-CSR NSW Professional Major Builder awardThe Eden Brae Tradestart Charity Race Day is a highlight of the year for the 600 loyal trade contractors and suppliers of the industry leader who attended the event. The all-day cocktail-styled function in the Grand Pavilion was set against a backdrop of changing skies and exciting horseracing.

Benefiting from the generous support of attendees was Giant Steps NSW, a centre that assists children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Eden Brae Homes Managing Director, Todd Symons, said Eden Brae was proud to be fostering such a worthwhile cause as part of its ongoing community support program.

“We have enormous gratitude for everyone who stepped up and contributed generously to this event,” said Todd. “All contributions whether great or small were equal parts of a fabulous fundraising effort.”

MC of the day was popular Channel Nine personality Karl Stefanovic who shared anecdotes and helped to motivate attendees to give generously. Mingling with guests were several members of the NRL’s Wests Tigers team including Robbie Farah.

A major highlight of the fundraiser was the charity auction, which offered signed sporting memorabilia from the NRL’s South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Australian Wallabies, footballers Benji Marshall and Andrew Johns, as well as signed merchandise from music legend Jimmy Barnes. However, the most coveted auction item was an AC/DC guitar that was knocked down at $9,000.

Other fundraising opportunities included a major raffle that offered eight major prizes designed to reward the loyalty of Eden Brae’s contractors and suppliers. From a luxury family holiday to the ‘Ultimate Bloke’s Wheelbarrow’ filled with refreshments and corporate tickets to the V8 Supercars, plus a ladies luxury pamper package at a day spa, there were many incentives to further support the fundraising effort.

A Giant Steps Wish Board was displayed which offered attendees the opportunity to contribute specifically to a fund to fit out the School’s new library. Although Giant Steps had received a government grant to convert an old engineers workshop into their first ever library they were short of resources, in particular books, games and computers for their new library.

As students with autism require particular instruction catering for individual learning styles and individual needs, providing access to various learning tools allows students the opportunity to maximise their learning potential.

A running tally of the contributions to the Wish Board was kept throughout the day, reaching the target of $15,000 thanks to the following companies:

  • Dragon Wholesaling
  • NSW Insulation
  • GDK Signs
  • Abbey Blinds
  • Quiklec Electrical
  • Macquarie Partners
  • Mabzon Bricklaying
  • TM Linings
  • Cornish Group
  • Wype Plumbing
  • Fab Kitchens
  • Apollo Kitchens
  • Champagne Cleaning
  • GJ’s Landscapes
  • Griffin Air Conditioning
  • Stoddarts

Eden Brae Homes is also extremely grateful to the Major Sponsors and official Supporters of the event who each took an integral part in achieving an outstanding fundraising total for Giant Steps NSW.
