Art Deco inspires new range of doors

Art Deco remains popular around the world and is increasingly appreciated by new generations who are enchanted by its simplicity, style, design, superior materials and finishes.

The new internal door range, Deco, from Corinthian Doors is inspired by the Art Deco international design movement first developed in the Roaring Twenties during the post World War 1 break with traditions and move to modernity.

Corinthian Doors has a reputation as Australia’s largest and most innovative door manufacturer and has created the new Deco range to suit a range of architectural styles and tastes. The Deco door designs feature long clean horizontal and vertical lines to create a modern streamline look for your home.

The internal Deco door range is constructed with a thicker 4.75mm skin, providing a premium finish for high gloss paints. This thicker skin also makes the door more solid which improves its acoustic properties. The range is routed on both faces and supplied pre-primed ready for painting in your favourite colour.

Art Deco According to Corinthian Doors, its state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies ensure that the routed lines are clean cut with no rough edges and the thicker skins ensure the routed designs do not compromise the skin strength of the skin.

The non-solid lightweight-construction interior doors are available in five designs – four with Deco routing patterns and one with a Deco flush panel for that sleek minimalist look. Deco is available in a range of sizes 420-920 mm wide, 2040 or 2340 mm high and 37 mm thick.

A spokesperson said Deco is backed by Corinthian Doors’ 5 year guarantee. “Since 1942 the Corinthian promise has been ~ consistent quality, reliability and value for money.”

Did you know?

Art Deco was a popular international art design movement from 1925 until the 1940s, affecting the decorative arts such as architecture, interior design and industrial design, as well as the visual arts such as fashion, painting, the graphic arts and film. At the time, this style was seen as elegant, glamorous, functional and modern.

The structure of Art Deco is based on mathematical geometric shapes. It was widely considered to be an eclectic form of elegant and stylish modernism, being influenced by a mixture of many different styles and movements of the early 20th century.

Many classic examples still exist in the form of architecture in many major cities. The Empire State Building and Chrysler Building, both in New York City, are two of the largest and best-known examples of Art Deco style. 1

In Sydney there are many well-known landmarks that remain impressive examples of Art Deco style in Australia:
• Luna Park entrance, Milson’s Point
• Grace Building, York Street (city)
• ANZAC War Memorial, Hyde Park South
• David Jones, Market Street (city)
• Hotel Broadway, Chippendale
• Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay
• Dental Hospital of Sydney, Surry Hills
